3/25/19: Recovery!

Since I last posted, I got progressively sicker. I don’t know what it was, but I was so congested in my nose and throat and constantly chilly. My mucas was like lowkey green– hope that’s not TMI. I still have a little bit of a cough let but I feel a lot better now so hurray!

So physically I’m recovering and I guess emotionally I am too. The last several weeks I worried a lot about seeing Boy K (he doesnt deserve for me to write out his full name, lol) and wondering why he wasn’t messaging me. Last week Amanda sent me this meme and it really hurt, but I recognized that it was the truth:

I couldn’t keep making excuses, so I decided that I was gonna get over him. And once I accepted it, it actually wasnt very hard at all? Yes, anytime I see a Middle Eastern guy who looks vaguely like him I get a mini heart attack, but otherwise the pain is gone. I guess I’m stronger than I thought, which has been a nice self-realization.

Last week was fun though! Jasmine’s boyfriend, arrived, so we went out to the silent disco on Tuesday and danced a bunch. Wednesday, I got lunch with my friend Tanya; it was this stuffed Mexican potato:

That night, Lucia, Andy, Allan, and I headed to Newtown to catch Captain Marvel. We took the wrong train though so we missed our intended show, so we decided to just chill until then. Newtown is hipster and fun with lots of places to eat and shop. I ended up getting these duck dumplings at Lil Momo and then I got some Turkish coffee and delights at Hakiki:

NGL I dont think any of us were fans of the movie. It was bad for a marvel movie. Captain Marvel doesnt have a whole lot of personality and the storyline was eh. Hopefully Endgame will make up for it. Tix were only like $8 AUD ($5.76 USD) though.

Thursday, we went to Ivy, after a 30 min Uber, my alcohol already wearing away. I’d never particularly had a good time there either. This time I did; we met up with Andy and Allan there, and gasp, they actually danced pretty well! A lot of the Aussie boys either suck or don’t bother so it was a pleasant surprise. Maybe it’s the American in us. The boys left early and we stayed for a while, and I made convo with one Brazilean and one Chilean guy. I was so tired that night that I slept till 3:30pm.

Saturday, Lucia and I went to the Glebe markets, which were so cute! I got this cute $2 dress and some cane juice. Would definitely go back.

Sunday, I met up with some Colgate friends who are studying in Wollongong! I know Srećko and Cheeranjeev because we’re all RAs, Liz through a mutual friend, and Samara from the chapel basement. We got brunch at The Merchant of Ultimo and then visited the contemporary art museum near the Opera House.

Then Lucia and Ashley joined us for Wendy’s Secret Garden, which you have to take a ferry to get to. It’s like a rainforest in there:

So it’s been an eventful week!

Otherwise I’m trying to budget better and still tryna secure an internship, so a lil stressful but it’s been a good busy-ness I guess.

Also shout out to Show Me the Money 777 for being an addicting and comforting distraction in times of struggle, haha. Watch it it’s so good!

Miss y’all💕 -Gloria
